Exactly Cameo. They put their own targets on their backs for all this "persecution". How much better would my life in school been had I just been there with no ties to this cult? None of this "you can't cuss, you aren't allowed to fight, you can't do holidays" from peers and teachers who tried to let me in on some freekin' fun by creating loopholes. I may not be sure of many things but one thing I am sure of is: god needs to get punched in the throat.

I really hate that "today we are like" BS. We aren't anything like those in the bible as we are more advanced in damn near everything we do compared to them. These are people who probably would claim we are gods because we have a device that let's us talk to people on the other side of the planet. Why do Witnesses think they preach the "Good News"

the "good news" is a heavy buzz term that any witness will need no elaboration to understand unquestionably.

it seems illogical, to me, for the witnesses to call their message the "good news.".

i used to go door to door with a message of "whatever you are doing right now is wrong and will get you killed unless you preach door to door like me.

"If you were walking down the street and saw the roof of a house on fire, but looked inside the living room window and saw a family sitting together all happy watching TV and eating dinner, you wouldn't say, 'oh they look peaceful, I won't disturb them', you'd bang the door and yell at them to get out! Therefore, we shouldn't feel that we can't disturb people who appear content with their lives, we have to go forth with boldness and warn them of the coming destruction!"

The difference here being that we have all had some kind of experience with fire. We can prove that it exists. The problem with this "coming destruction" is that it's always in a state of "coming". It's stuck in the perverbial photograph of time. You can't prove a future event because it hasn't happened yet. Now you can however use past dealings with an event to guesstimate the outcome of the new event but this isn't proof of the future. You go to a restuarant, eat there all the time, BAM you get food poisoning one day....why? Because you are using your past dealings with the restaurant to tell you it's ok to eat there. If you knew the future event that you'd get food poisoning most likey you wouldn't have gone to that restaurant that day.

"We have to go forth with boldness and warn them of the coming destruction" is really saying "We have to scare people into believing the crap we're spewing to help secure the future of this publishing company"

so i was thinking about how jws tie holidays to paganistic roots (birthdays, x-mas, halloween) and it got me to thinking about these holidays today as opposed to when they were introduced.

x-mas may have gotten its start in the catholic church and been all about jesus' birthday but it's a whole new breed of holiday today.

it ain't about jesus or his birthday; it's about gift giving and togetherness with family and friends.

x-mas may have gotten its start in the catholic church and been all about jesus' birthday but it's a whole new breed of holiday today.

it ain't about jesus or his birthday; it's about gift giving and togetherness with family and friends.

So I was thinking about how JWs tie holidays to paganistic roots (birthdays, X-mas, Halloween) and it got me to thinking about these holidays today as opposed to when they were introduced. X-mas may have gotten its start in the Catholic church and been all about jesus' birthday but it's a whole new breed of holiday today. It ain't about jesus or his birthday; it's about gift giving and togetherness with family and friends. Sure it's been turned into a material frenzied free for all for companies and corporations but I'm sure there are people out there who pace themselves during the year to be able to pay for presents.

Halloween initially was about people dressing up in costumes to SCARE THE EVIL SPIRITS AWAY. Wherein lies the problem? Don't JWs strive to keep the evil spirits away, even at the cost of bastardizing the most simplest thing? What is Halloween about now? Spirits? Not hardly. It's about going to houses and getting candy when you're a kid and going to social parties/events when you get a bit older. So what we really have here is a gradual turn from something Catholic or evil spirited into something else.

So, how is this different from: "Millions now living WILL never die!" to "Millions now living MAY never die" or "the generation of 1914" to "overlapping generations"? The sayings have morphed into something else and the old sayings are now the orphaned love child between the GB and JWs at the time of it's writing. No, let something be tied to the church of old and it's held over the fact forever but when someone ties old WTB(s)TS doctrine with what is being shoveled today and it's "new light" or "outdated info" Really? REALLY? Really? Really? Really?

what toys did you all ways want but couldnt have because you were a jw!

i was lucky not to be born into the jw's, so i had pretty much every toy i wanted .... actionman (g.i joe) with all the guns, tanks wonderful 2nd world war uniforms, toy soldiers cavalry, indians, cowboys, knights,castles and forts.. six million dollar man, lone ranger and tonto, toy cars matchbox captin scarlett, thunder birds, loads of guns to run around playing war.. great days.

(of course my sisters had dolls and prams, barbies cindys, play make up).

i know having spoken to jws born into it certain toys were of limits for some kids.. a good friend told me how he loved action man and played with them constantly, until one day he came home and saw them all by the door in a. card board box.. when he asked his mum what she was doing.. she told him "do you really think jehovah wants you to play war, you can keep one of them but he cant have any guns and fight people".

The GB tightening their grip! Straw to break a camel's back?

i post on a couple of forums and read and lurk and all that stuff.. a theme that seems to be gaining momentum is about how the gb are 'tightening their grip' and 'becoming more cultish'.. i don't read the publications anymore and oddly i read extracts of them on the forums.. punk is babbling now.............sorry...................my questions are (sorry if they're a bit long.

The WTB(s)TS is on more damage control than they ever have been. Just 17 or 18 years ago if you wanted to know about something you either grabbed a newspaper or you watched the news, both of which was limited to local info and big happenings. Now, if anything surfaces we have almost immediate access to info about it online. Used to be that if you wanted to make a video you had to lug around a huge camcorder and blank VHS tapes. Now, all one needs is a phone. The greatest enemy the washtowel has right now isn't Satan, it's information being spread freely and immediately. So they're gonna keep trying to scare you about the dangers of the internet (porn, pedophilia, the big bad apostates lying on the helpless and honest society) cause really, that's all they have. Forget the cowbell, more smoke and mirrors.
